Welcome to All the Pleasures!

Our 36th season marks a new milestone in Bella Voce’s history: the introduction of the Bella Voce Sinfonia, our own period instrument orchestra. We will introduce the Sinfonia with Bach’s magisterial Mass in B Minor in November, and we will close our season in May with the Sinfonia celebrating some giants of the Baroque in a concert called “Welcome to all the pleasures!”  Between these concerts, we explore the dialogue between early music and new. Our December Holiday concert brings back Benjamin Britten’s popular A Ceremony of Carols, featuring an all-female ensemble with harp, in a 20th century work that arranges a cycle of fifteenth and sixteenth century Middle English and Latin poems.  And in March we’ll set Taverner’s 16th century Missa Gloria tibi Trinitas in contrast with Gabriel Jackson’s 21st century Edinburgh Mass.   Come enjoy the sounds of early music, the new Sinfonia, and the wonderful connections between masters of early and new musical traditions.  Welcome to all the pleasures!
