EXPANDING THE CANON

Bella Voce Chorus conducted by Andrew Lewis

The season concludes with Expanding the Canon. The program, curated by Dr. Liza Calisesi Maidens, Director of Choral Activities at the University of Illinois-Chicago, spotlights works by composers of the Renaissance and Baroque.

Expanding the Canon offers the opportunity to discover works by historically underrepresented composers Isabella Leonarda, Maddalena Casulana, and Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, alongside lesser-known works by celebrated composers like Palestrina and Victoria.

Join us before the downbeat for a pre-concert lecture by Dr. Calisesi Maidens.
